Thursday 9th April - All your tasks

Good Morning Year 5 and 6 (don't forget spelling test on Friday)


Literacy

WALT - To have a full understanding of a portal story.

New Portal story - The secret behind the door (press this and it will take you to the story)
Read / listen to the story
Please answer these questions - write them on paper then upload them to seesaw.
1. Can you find a simile, metaphor, idioms, onomatopoeia - look them up if you can't remember what they are.
2. Find the definitions to all the words; write them 3 a sentence.
strictly, knocker, responded, pungent, aroma, inquisitive, sacrificed, doom, impatiently, vivid
3. Answer one of the questions at the end of the text.


Uplevelling Sentences - write on paper and upload to seesaw

Circles - Sally decided to walk to the shops
Triangle - Janet talked to her parrot
Squares -The wind blew though the trees.

Add in adjectives, embedded clauses, Sentence starter.

WALT - adding fractions (convert to mixed fractions if they are improper)
Remember you can add them if they aren't the same denominator.

Reading

Please continue reading froRead Theory or Oxford Owl , for 30 minutes EVERYDAY but you do not need to send it to me. I want you to concentrate our guided reading sessions on the Letters from the lighthouse please. 

Guided Reading

Our class Reading book is Letters from the Lighthouse by Emma Carroll, which fits in very nicely for our WWII topic.  

So you have a week to complete these tasks


You are only to do chapter 1 - Keep calm and carry on.


I expect all of the comprehension questions to be completed by the end of the week.
