Reading tasks for the week - we will meet Monday to Thursday at 8.45am. 

Letters from the lighthouse Chapter 9 Lend a hand on the land  - 

Comprehension
* What emotions were Cliff and Olive feeling when they first arrived at the lighthouse?
• What sort of convinced Ephraim that Olive and Cliff might be ok?
• What makes it difficult for Cliff to get into the lighthouse?
• Why is it important for them to get into the lighthouse quickly?
• What is involved in being a lighthouse keeper?
• Why does Ephraim’s face ‘darken’?
• Why do you think Ephraim wouldn’t take Esther?

Writing task
• Based on what you’ve read, write a job description for a lighthouse keeper.
• Write a poem, from the perspective of the lighthouse, about the tide coming in.

Creative Curriculum
Using the description provided, sketch the interior of the lighthouse.

MATHS We will meet at 09:15 for maths. 

Target Teaching: ALWAYS make sure your largest fraction is first. 

WALT: subtracting fractions
Circles: 2 dice dice  3/5 - 2/3= 
CT: 2 dice dice 4/8 - 3/6 =

Triangles: 2 dice dice  5/9 - 3/8

Squares:  6 dice including whole numbers  dice 
3 3/6 - 1  2/3 = Remember you may have to 'borrow' a whole one to be able to subtract your answer, so you have to convert your fraction into a mixed number.
