Literacy Meet at 9.15am

WALT - Watch Anne Frank's Diary 

Anne Frank’s diary is one of the most famous diaries in the world. 
Diary writing will be our new genre of writing for this term.

It is appropriate for year 5 and 6 children - but I think this part it just too much - please trust me and do as I ask.

Comprehension
How was the situation different from when Olive and Cliff were in London?
• Find and copy a phrase that shows Cliff is really enjoying the Luftwaffe flying over.
• Why do some people think the lighthouse is a danger?
• How did Queenie react to the planes? Did you expect this reaction? Explain your answer.
• Why might Cliff be more excited than Olive?
• How do you think Olive felt when she found out Esther Jenkins was coming to stay?

Writing task
• Write the first half of the chapter again, but from the perspective of one of the Luftwaffe pilots.
• Write an apology note from Ephraim, sensitively explaining why you can not care for Esther Jenkins..

Creative Curriculum
• Look at the lighthouse on the cover. Imagine some ways you could camouflage the lighthouse to stop the Luftwaffe seeing it. Design these camouflaged ideas and annotate them.
